It’s been a while since our last update blog so it’s good to be able to sit down and write one again. The reason for the lack of update posts in recent weeks has been because there hasn’t been all that much to actually report. I’ve been posting short updates on the Genesis forum to keep people up to date with what’s going on and where we are at.
A few weeks ago I asked for the community’s thoughts on where Genesis should go. Some great feedback and suggestions were provided and I’ve sat through and read every single one. Since we first launched in October 2017, we’ve seen steady growth in the community and what we have built so far is something we can all be proud off. However I’m sure that all of you will agree that it’s important that we focus on the future and work on giving Genesis a long-term use which will hopefully in turn raise our profile, trading volume and for the investors, price.
While I can not yet announce what is definitely coming next, mainly because it hasn’t been decided entirely yet, I can share with you my thoughts on the direction Genesis is likely to take and what we’ll do to get there.
Over the next few weeks I will be looking into several possible plans to see which ones Genesis could realistically follow. This involves market research, understanding the amount of time and development needed to complete such projects as well as other miscellaneous stuff which needs to be taken into account when planning. These plans relate to the development of a product or service with some examples including a cryptocurrency e-learning platform or a cryptocurrency marketplace where multiple currencies are accepted. Unfortunately based on the nature of the time needed and my current busy schedule, this will take longer than I would have liked in an ideal world and all I can do is apologise for the slow pace of development and news. Once a direction and plan has been finalised, the next stage would be a re-branding of Genesis. This would involve an overhaul of our graphics and art style and would fit in line with the new direction we’re taking. I anticipate that this would also see the Genesis Forum, Genesis website and the new platform move to a style that is consistent amongst all of our sites.
Once the future is clearer, the discussions surrounding exchanges will no doubt pop up again and understandably so. As has always been the case, listing fees to get added to medium to large exchanges are way beyond what we can afford. Not only that, but there will be a cost involved with whatever we do next. It has been mentioned several times by a number of people before about the Genesis community raising money for listing fees and further development. This is something I am hesitant to consider though as we never underwent an ICO and due to the project already being half a year old, I can’t offer Genesis Coins in return at a lower price as they are cheap enough to buy on an exchange already. However, if the community feels strongly about this and wants to provide support then I would like to hear your thoughts on it to gauge how much support there is.
I have also seen some suggestions regarding ways to engage the community more. I agree that we need to do more to keep our community engaged and interested so I will also be looking at creating a monthly schedule which will include a number of events which you can take part in to win GEN. While these won’t be groundbreaking, they will hopefully help bring the more active members together and provide something to look forward.
On a side note, the Genesis Lottery takes place tonight at 8pm GMT with the last tickets able to be purchased at 7pm GMT. The prize pool for this draw is 15,000 GEN.
Interest for the HODL Program will also be paid out this month as usual so make sure you have your Genesis Coins in your wallet by Monday April 30 to qualify for the screen grab. Interest will be paid out on Tuesday.
