This week was a fairly quiet one for Genesis but rest assured that development of the Genesis Web Wallet continues at a steady pace and that work behind the scenes is ongoing. Here’s what’s been happening this week.
Web Wallet Development
Development of the Genesis Web Wallet is nearing completion with another one of the last issues being solved. There’s still a bit more work to do but right now the wallet works as expected in the test environment. The wallet will allow users to send Genesis Coins to another address and it also displays how many GEN coins you have as well as how much Ether are in your wallet, as you’d expect.
This version of our web wallet requires MetaMask to function and displays your MetaMask account in our Genesis interface. This is why we sometimes refer to it as a “lite” web wallet as it doesn’t allow you to create new accounts or addresses. Everything is stored on the blockchain and handled through MetaMask.
The next stage after the last few issues are ironed out is moving the wallet into the live environment and compiling it for use on the website.
At this stage we aren’t willing to specify a release date for when our community will be able to use it but most of the work has now been completed.
Update on Exchanges
Last week we reported that we had made an application to join a new exchange. As of the time of writing, we are yet to hear back from them. We will wait some more and will keep you updated if we hear any news.
We are hopeful that another exchange will list us soon though. We made enquiries previously and are now proceeding with the final stages of our application. Providing all goes to plan and there are no hitches, we hope to be able to make an announcement in the next few weeks.
As always, we’re always on the lookout for additional exchanges so keep the suggestions coming!
Survey Results
Towards the end of 2017 we released a survey for our community to complete to help us get to know more about the Genesis community. It was our intentions to publish the results before 2018 began but for one reason or another we didn’t. However we’ve now gone through the data and want to share with you some more information about the Genesis community.
Please note that this data was complied before The Genesis Forum launched so some of the data may not accurately reflect the community as of 2018.
